Conspiracy theories are the religions of human progress. They are simplistic mental constructs that, though correct on many levels, seek only to offer a sense of security against the great unknown. If, at the height of human progress, the world still sucks so bad; it must be caused by a secret cabal of evil forces. It is easier to understand the world only in terms of absolute good and evil. The world we are fed from conspiracy theories, religion, movies, TV, and even the news is simple and dualistic. In an information-for-profit world, people are sold only the information they wish to buy. No one wants to hear the truth, and no one will pay to hear the truth. The root of all offense is having you perception of realty questioned. (Prepare to be offended)
Is the world run by evil reptilian overlords? Kind of. The world is far too complicated for any one person to get their head around, so our brain creates the super-natural. The brain is far more intelligent then the consciousness can articulate, and it has access to far more information then we can consciously factor in. Most religions ultimately say that God/Gods are within us, not without. The evil reptilian overlords are within us, and so is Jesus (for that matter; so is Zeus, Cthulhu, Horus, Shiva, Ahura Mazda, Demiurge, and the Goddess Sophia).

Over just the last 5 years the percentage of college who consider themselves "nonreligious" almost doubled in size to 24 percent. While Evangelical Christianity is also growing and becoming more and more militant and marginalized, access to the Internet is re-introducing Western-Civilization to Western Mysticism. Although most people still have no idea what Western Mysticism is (such as Kabbalah, Hermeticism, and Gnosticisim), or it's rich history within our society, it's re-introduction is going to cause a spiritual revolution. The return of the Nephilim.
Most Christians have never heard of the Book of Enoch or anything else in the biblical apocrypha. Until recently I could not understand how someone could devote their life to an idea, yet not look into it's history. The Grigori are a group of fallen angels told of in Biblical apocrypha who mated with mortal women, giving rise to a race of hybrids known as the Nephilim, who are also mentioned in Genesis 6:4. It was the Grigori that made us intelligent, it was the Grigori that stared us down a path to become Gods on Earth. They taught the signs of the earth (Araqiel), enchantment (Armaros), to make knives, swords, shields, how to devise ornaments and cosmetics (Azazel), astrology (Baraqiel), meteorology (Chazaqiel), the art of writing with ink and paper (Penemue), and hope (Ramiel). They taught us this in defiance of Tetragrammaton, and that is why he brought The Deluge.
Christian mythology is a very deep and thoughtful manifestation of the human quest for progress. Unfortunately this rich tradition has been gutted by those who see all Christian Mysticism as satanic. This is why the Gnostics where killed off. This is why the Church committed genocide against countless adherents to a left-handed path. And this is why they still focus to oppose civil rights, freedom of speech, and free will; vice doing something about human suffering, poverty, war, famine, and disease. So instead of teaching us how to balance two important aspects of ourselves, it elevates only the submissive. Why do Americans act like ignorant sheep? Because (esp. Evangelical) Christianity elevated anti-intellectualism as Divine, an act of complete abomination against the Gnosis. But Sarah Palin could never become President.
I strongly disagree with Joseph Heath and Andrew Potter, society does not act to encourage the Rebel, it co-opts it in order to marginalize it. Hot Topic is not Punk Rock.
If you've never seen a rational analysis of psychedelics you owe it to yourself to discover that LSD is proof God has a sense of humor. The discovery of DNA can be traced to the use of LSD. Is LSD good for you? What is "good" and who should decide? A recent study suggests link between psychosis and creativity, and what is more divine then creativity. Human creativity is the spark of the divine. The ability to create something that has never existed before, and discover something that has never been discovered before.
Did you know that we have the scientifically proven ability of telekinesis? Does a scientific explanation invalidate its significance? Does technology empower or defile us? What is happening to us to cause the placebo effect to be getting stronger? All of science is based off the assumption of an objective reality. What if there was no objective reality? We now have a mechanism to explain how the human eyes can detect Quantum Effects, and can now even show Quantum Entanglement on the macro scale. Humans will be immortal in 20 years. We are the return of the Nephilim, the children of animals and Gods.
