The economy is not coming back.

The economy is not coming back. Many people don't understand this yet. There's no telling when the next big fall will happen but it will. The current economy is not sustainable. There's no way to place the blame/credit any one place. Reagan's trickle down economics only trickle downed a widening gap between rich and poor, rampant inflation (not apparent by the actual CPI numbers, but why do families now require 2 incomes?), and selling weapons to Iran in order to fund Nicaraguan contras. I have a collection of videos I've collected to build the case of why we are where we are now. Mostly the reason for our economic demise has to do with inherent flaws in our form of economy: Consumerism. You've been sold an idea, though corporate owned news, entertainment, the commercials. Its not a hard conspiracy, more like a soft conspiracy. Group think of those in power that fail to see the larger picture. We all look after our own, politics has shown over and over again that people will always lie cheat and steal to feed their own. For some this means taking candy bars from a 7-11, for some this means embezzling millions. For politicians it often means supporting the lobbyists that finance their re-election, for Corporate Executives this often means using their company for purely personal gain and not the interests of the general economy or even humanity. The ideology that is used to justify this type of behavior is flawed. Those in power fail to understand that we are all better off when we start doing things in better ways. Driving the middle class into poverty does not benefit the upper class. Bubble economics raise the tide for all boats but when the tide goes out the bailouts/life-rafts are only for the well represented in Washington and the media. It is time for a new economy. One based not on promoting more consumption on based on promoting less for more. Linux over Windows, Wikipedia over Britannica, making your own bread, buying your food/cloths/most everything on-line, canning your own food, growing your own garden, making your own dishwasher/laundry detergent, torrents, and making the sacrifices to allow someone to stay home with the kids. We're in for a better existence, and the Internet is how we're getting there. People have forgotten about the simple ways of life, but technology is bringing them back. Sharing the lost information will make even the powerful upper-classes more happy. A well educated China and India will improve the lives of all of we had an economic system based not on a race to consume but a race to improve, a race to share information. Of course this is all quite complex and hard to prove in a paragraph or 300, but hope to build the case for a new way of doing things.
